Combining natural elements with vintage furniture
To emphasize the tropical beach atmosphere of the house, Titia had a clear picture in mind of what the house would resemble. The interior features a combination of pure, untreated wood, wicker, cottons and linens. The colour palette are hues of cream, black, white and greige. The result is a breezy, tranquil space with some vintage statement pieces mixed with modern comfort. The vintage furniture pieces in the house Titia upholstered herself by hand like the linen closets in the hallway she imported from France. The sofa that originally came in one piece and she separated by placing a small wooden table in the middle. ‘It proves that style does not have to be expensive.’ A striking detail in line with her chosen colour pallet are the black and white photos in almost every room. ‘Photos are important pieces to personalize a home. I treasure our family photos, especially the pictures in our living room, a gift from my sister on my 60th birthday of us as little kids.’
